I found these beautiful prickley pear cactus paddles in the Catalina Foothills, Tucson, Arizona. The species rufida refers to the ruddy profusion of red-brown glochids. The plant generally has a short trunk, and the thickish tomentose pads are subcircular, obovate, or elliptical.
I am Adrienne Wilson. I was raised in the Military, moving frequently. My husband and I moved to Lake Havasu City in 1991, which is along the Colorado River, in the beautiful State of Arizona.
