Description
I walked out early one morning and everything was bathed in a beautiful pinky orange, including this beautiful Cooper's Hawk. I took this photo in the Catalina Foothills, Tucson, Arizona.
The Cooper's Hawk is a medium-sized hawk with the classic accipiter shape: broad, rounded wings and a very long tail.
Females are larger than males. The male has a 24" to 35" wingspan and the female wingspan is 29" to 35".
Their habitat is deep forests to leafy subdivisions and backyards.
Cooper’s Hawks can be found wintering over most of the continental United States. Some birds migrate as far south as southern Mexico and Honduras.
